WHY WORK WITH A PROFESSIONAL TAX PREPARER?

Tax preparation is an annual requirement for most Americans, yet navigating tax forms and regulations can be time-consuming and stressful. Rather than sorting through paperwork and risking errors, many clients choose to work with a professional. We provide individual tax preparation services designed to save time, reduce stress, and minimize the risk of audits.

IMPORTANT FILING DEADLINES & EXTENSIONS

Based on the 2026 IRS tax calendar, business tax deadlines depend on your business structure and entity type. The 2026 season for filing 2025 tax returns begins on January 26, 2026.

Here are the key 2026 federal business tax deadlines for calendar-year filers:

1. Annual Income Tax Returns

  • March 16, 2026 (Partnerships & S-Corps):

    • Partnerships (Form 1065): Due date for Form 1065 and sending Schedule K-1 to partners.

    • S Corporations (Form 1120-S): Due date for Form 1120-S and sending Schedule K-1 to shareholders.

    • Note: March 15 is a Sunday, so the deadline moves to Monday, March 16.

  • April 15, 2026 (Sole Proprietors & C-Corps):

    • Sole Proprietorships/Single-Member LLCs (Form 1040, Schedule C): Reported on personal tax returns.

    • C Corporations (Form 1120): Due date for Form 1120.

2. Extensions (Time to File)

  • March 16, 2026: Deadline to file Form 7004 for an automatic 6-month extension for Partnerships and S-Corps.

  • April 15, 2026: Deadline to file Form 4868 (Individual/Sole Prop) or Form 7004 (C-Corp) for a 6-month extension.

  • September 15, 2026: Extended deadline for Partnerships and S-Corps.

  • October 15, 2026: Extended deadline for Individuals/Sole Props and C-Corps.

  • Note: An extension to file is not an extension to pay; taxes owed are still due by the original April 15 deadline.

3. Payroll and Information Returns (W-2s/1099s)

  • February 2, 2026: Deadline to provide W-2s to employees and 1099-NEC for non-employee compensation to contractors (Jan 31 falls on a weekend).

  • February 2, 2026: Deadline to file Form 941 (Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return) for Q4 2025.

  • March 31, 2026: Electronic filing deadline for Forms 1099, W-2, and other information returns.

4. Quarterly Estimated Tax Payments (2026)

If your business is a corporation or you are a self-employed individual, you must make estimated payments on these dates:

  • Q1 2026: April 15, 2026

  • Q2 2026: June 15, 2026

  • Q3 2026: September 15, 2026

  • Q4 2026: January 15, 2027 (Note: C-Corps may have a Dec 15, 2026 deadline for their 4th installment, according to some sources)

5. Quarterly Excise Tax

  • Form 720: Due April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31, 2027.

UNDERSTANDING IRS PENALTIES

If taxes are not paid by the original filing deadline, the IRS may assess penalties and interest. Penalties can include:

  • A monthly penalty of 0.5% on unpaid taxes after the deadline

  • A failure-to-file penalty of 5% per month, up to a maximum of 25%, if a return is not filed by the extension deadline

One way to help avoid penalties is to make a tax payment before the filing deadline. Payments made by debit card can also serve as an extension request, eliminating the need to file Form 4868 separately.
